Project update summer 2005

Well, it's been a bad summer, with no consisting weather. The low pressure fronts have been traveling from the atlantic onto Scandinavia almost the entire summer, so the activities have not been as intense as we have wanted it to be.

Right now, it seems impossible to shoot the amount of film necessary to be finished in time to participate in the Antibes festival this year. But thats how it is, when "mother nature" is involved, and nothing can be done about it. We will just have to wait and then submit the film next year.

The shooting of the film will continue throughout august and september, whenever the weather will allove it.

To the right, you can see some photos from the last trip to the reefs, it was a bit windy, but we managed to get some good footage anyway.

We hope to be able to put some of the footage online soon.

We will write a little about the filming equipment that we use.

The camera system is Sony PD170 DVCam. A professional camcorder with a fairly compact size. The camera has a lot of manual adjustments, and gives us the perfect opportunities to make some fantastic footage. It is a highly recommendable camera, however if you have the money, you will probably buy a HDCam these days.

The camera fits nicely inside the Amphibico housing. Amphibico housings is "state of the art", and is solid very well designed housings that gives you the ability to use every possible control of the camera manually.

For superb vision, and control of the recorded image, we have chosen to use the external monitor provided by Amphibico. This monitor is simply perfect, and uses standard Sony camcorder batteries, so you will not drain the batteries on the camcorder.
For lightning system we use Kowalski 1250D speed. The only dissadvantage with these lighst is that they are quite heavy, even in the water. The dimmer switch function is fantastic, and saves a lot of power, wich prolong the burning time. The speed version, will fully charge within an hour or two, so thats an extra bonus.
