Project update august 2005
SUCCESS ! - Nothing else can describe the feeling we have after the last trip to the bubbling reefs. We found a highly active methane gas vent. The site has 2 active vents, one of them less active than the other, but with lager bubbles, which indicate that the pressure that has to build up, before venting was higher.
It was very exciting to watch, that the marine life was living very close to the site, and actually often was touched by the gas bubbles.
The vegetation was all white, where the gas bubbles touched it, and it was clear that the algee had no change of surviving within direct contact to the gasflow.
We have the exact GPS position of the site, and we are looking forward to visit the spot again in the future, to see if the site continue to be as active as it is now.
Click on the pictures to the right, and see a larger copy of the site. There is also a little "taster" video, where you can se the gas bubbles, however, the quality of the video is not perfect, that we will save for the final film project.
